I am not an alcoholic but I do enjoy having a nice glass of red wine after I had an extremely long day at work and coming home to kids, homework, dinner, school clothes, a dog, plus a husband. So yes, after I lay my boys down for bed, I have a nice glass of wine to relax and catch up on my shows. Of course that went out the window when I got pregnant with Journee and although I have four boys already, I never knew about Mocktails. These have kept me sane for the past 8 months LOL, although there is NO ALCOHOL in them. It bothered me so bad to go out to eat and see everyone enjoy a drink or a glass of wine and I just sat there drinking my water or lemonade. What bothered me even more is most restaurant do not even make virgin drinks! Nobody thinks about all the millions of people who do not drink alcohol beverages or the women who are carrying babies. After being beyond tired of watching people sip their lemon drops I did my research and found some amazing drinks that look like, taste like, smell like real alcohol beverages but without the alcohol in it. Amazing right? For all you that do not drink alcohol beverages or pregnant mommies like me that miss their drinks, below you will find 4 Mocktails that I make all the time at home. These drinks are delicious and so easy and quick to make.




The Italian Bramble Recipe



Ingredients:

– 1 cup frozen blackberries – 10 juniper berries (you can get them in the canning section of a specialty store or at a gourmet shop) – 1/3 cup sugar – 3 lemons, juiced – 1 small sprig of rosemary – 6-8 cups of ice – Sparkling water – 1 small apple sliced and blackberries as garnish




Instructions:


1. Place 4 glasses in the freezer. Leave them there to frost. 2. Put the frozen blackberries, juniper berries, and sugar in a pot with a tiny splash of water and bring it to a simmer. Smash the fruit with a whisk until it breaks down. Simmer for 15 minutes, then remove from the hear. Cool down for a couple minutes and place in a blender on high speed until pureed and smooth. Strain through a fine mesh and place strained content in the fridge to cool down. 3. Rinse your blender and add the lemon juice and small rosemary sprig and blend for 20 seconds. Strain juice into a clean cup and set aside. 4. Place the ice in the blender and break it down in batches. Just pulse it a few times; you want it to be chunky. 5. Take the frosted glasses out of the freezer, fill half way through with crushed ice, then pour equal amounts of the lemon/rosemary mix into each glass, add a splash of sparkling water and top each glass with ice all the way to the top. Finally pour about 3 oz (2 shots) of the juniper and blackberry reduction in each glass. Garnish with apple slices and a blackberry and serve.

This cocktail leans toward the sour side of things, if you’d like it to be a touch more sweet you can either increase the amount of sugar or add more of the blackberry mix into the drink.

Virgin Margarita Recipe



Ingredients:


1/2 cup limeade 1/4 cup lemon flavored Dasani Sparking Water 1/4 cup lime flavored Dasani Sparkling Water 1/4 cup orange juice ice Optional: salt & lime to garnish


Instructions:


Pour limeade, lemon Dasani sparkling water, lime Dasani Sparkling water and orange juice into a pitcher and mix.Rim glass with salt if desired by turning glass upside down and dipping it into water then salt. Fill glass 2/3 full with ice, then Pour the margarita over the top/Garnish with lime



Nojito






Ingredients:

10-12 fresh mint sprigs 1 lime

1 Tablespoon agave (or sugar)12 oz sparkling water (such as Perrier or La Croix Lime) lemon and lime slices (optional)


Instructions:

In a cocktail shaker muddle the mint with juice of 1 lime, agave, and a handful of crushed ice.Pour into 2 tall glasses over more ice. Add sparkling water.Garnish with lemon and lime slices.















Non-Alcoholic Sangria


Ingredients:


Fresh lemon slices Fresh lime slices Fresh orange slices Cranberries 2 cups cranberry juice 2 cups grape juice 1 cup orange juice 1/2 cup lemon juice

4 cups San Pellegrino sparkling mineral water OR lemon-lime soda


Instructions:


In a large pitcher, add the lemon slices, lime slices, orange slices, and cranberries. Add cranberry juice, grape juice, orange juice and lemon juice. Stir well.Refrigerate until ready to use.Just before serving, add the sparkling mineral water or lemon-lime soda. Mix well.
