Becoming pregnant at the age of 19, I did not know how I would be able to take care of myself or at that point, a baby. But I embraced motherhood and welcomed my baby boy on December 17, 2008. A couple months after bringing our son into the world, my son father and I parted ways. Not only was I a mother, I was a single mother and had to make the best decisions that would not only benefit me but benefit my child so I enlisted in the United States Army! I served a wonderful 7 years and was released on a medical discharge, but I did not allow that to STOP ME. I moved to Dallas, Texas and during the transition I completed my BS in Network Security with a Minor in Cybersecurity. After a transition from New York to Texas I met the love of my life. We fell in love instantly and things progressed fast. We found out in March of 2018 that we would be expecting a baby girl! Mackenzie was born March 9, 2018. Throughout my entire pregnancy I continued pursuing my Masters Degree, literally submitting papers up to the morning that I delivered! Though the journey was difficult, it was ALL WORTH IT. On April 28, 2019, I completed my Masters Degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Information Assurance.
The first struggle that I ever endured was being a single mother and learning not only to take care of myself but realizing that I had someone looking up to me and depending on me. The next struggle that I endured was being in the military and being at the call of the government not knowing at even given moment that I would have to leave my child and serve my country. The last struggle that I faced was not being there to raise my children. A week after I delivered my daughter, I was admitted into the hospital for Postpartum Preeclampsia. I went to the doctor because I was swelling only to find out that my blood pressure was 200/120! The doctor told me that if I did not come into the office immediately, I could have a stroke or a brain aneurysm which could result in death. I was in the hospital for three days which caused me to not only be away from my 1 week old child but I missed school, which then placed me on academic probation, which then postponed my graduation an entire semester. In spite of all the set backs, I never let my struggles overcome me and persevered through it all. Through it all I continued to be the best woman and mother I could be!

My hobbies are spending time with my children, photography and reading. I definitely love a great bottle of wine! I am very emotional and determined and will not take NO for an answer! I am a God fearing woman that puts God first and we talk several times of day!
Briana you are a strong woman, a phenomenal woman, an amazing momma, and a true definition of an independent black educated woman. For this reason,
